PD Blog | JANUARY 2026
On December 31, 2025, we held our Watch Night service to look back at what God had done in that year but also to hear the testimonies of three members who were positively affected by the Bible study called “Living Life.”
After the service, we had everyone come together and enjoy a bowl of Dduk Gook 떡국which is a tradition rice cake soup that is eaten on Korean New Year’s day (Seollal).
For 2026, I want to shape TroyHope Ministry into a culture where inviting, welcoming, and loving non-Christians becomes natural, joyful, and Christ-centered. To our pleasant surprise, that happened on Sunday January 11 at our House Church Shepherd’s gathering as well as our New Members welcome dinner.
The overall theme for 2026 is “Come and See” is an invitation is to Belong, Explore, and Encounter Jesus. I spoke about the invitation that changes everything on Sunday January 4 where the concept of V.I.P. was introduced as a way of saying: You are welcome here.
Then on Sunday January 11, I spoke about the story of Zacchaeus and how Jesus showed radical hospitality by initiating a relationship with Zacchaeus and entered his life. The message was about us belonging to God before we even start believing. The focus was how one starts this journey by belonging in a space where transformation happens. Jesus sees people others overlook, and hospitality opens hearts to truth that allows transformation to take place through acceptance, not rejection.
On Sunday January 18, I will speak on another character in the Bible by the name of Matthew. He too was a tax collector and became one of Jesus’ disciples that was asked by Jesus to follow Him. You will discover that Jesus shared tables over a meal before sharing any teachings. Again, Jesus builds relationships before addressing behavior because love earns trust and trust opens hearts. The goal is to reach out with presence and not pressure.
On the final Sunday of January, you will discover another interesting character found in the gospel of John who was a Samaritan woman. You will learn that God uses ordinary people with simple stories that ends up becoming evangelism through testimony. This encounter that Jesus had with the Samaritan woman led to an invitation which allowed the woman to go and tell others what she saw and encountered.
This is basically what we hope to live out in 2026. “Come and See” is not just a catch phrase but an invitation for all of us to state so that others can encounter Jesus and in return encourage more to share their faith.
We become inviters even when we don’t have all the answers. “Come and See” is not just a sermon series – it’s a church culture. A culture where VIPs are honored, a church where belonging comes before believing and finally a people who love boldly and invite joyfully.
“Come and See” is how Jesus built His ministry – and it’s how He still builds His church today.
