I can’t believe it’s been four months since my mother came to live with me.  She often thinks this will be her last time spending this amount of time with me but if I can help her take small steps to adjust according to her needs, things will be just fine.

Special thanks to Jay Seo for buying this beautiful scarf from Vietnam.  She wears it every time we go out.

Last year when my son Andrew got married, we were fortunate to have both my mom and his grandparents on Tarah’s side present.  We all know how precious it is to have our parents witness their grandchildren get married and this was very special for us.

During the last four months, mom has enjoyed our Monday outings to places like Frankenmuth, Great Lakes Crossing Mall, Somerset Mall, Fuji Buffet and all the Korean restaurants in our area.

These outings reminded her of traveling with my dad when they used to drive to Florida together and enjoy the scenic views of all the different States.

Besides our weekly outings, mom started to show her talents at home by playing the piano and exercising as much as she could.  When the weather got cold or damp, she often had shoulder issues and Lisa Paik made a home visit to administer the cupping therapy.

If someone was to ask me what her favorite food was, they probably would be shocked to hear French Onion Soup and Fish & Chips.  We discovered Applebee’s has a delicious French Onion Soup and Lakeport Tavern in Port Huron has an all you can eat Fish & Chip deal.

Recently we celebrated Pastor Jinny’s birthday at KPot where all the pastors and family gathered together.

On Wednesday April 9th, mom will be celebrating her 88th birthday here in Michigan.  This is extra special because it has been way too long since I celebrated her birthday with her.

Then on Monday April 21, which is my daughter’s birthday, I will be driving her back to Toronto.  I know this may seem like a diary of some sorts but for me capturing memories that I know I will treasure for many years to come is priceless.

If you have a chance, make it a tradition or a routine to take your parents out for lunch or dinner each week.  If that is not possible, send them pictures of how you are living your life and I know they would greatly appreciate it.
